A question for Americans. Why are your washing machines in your kitchens?

From this video and that time when I was helping my mother to find a new house (we are from the other side of the trump Wall) and we were shown a house which was previously owned my Americans which also had a washing machine in the kitchen (and no fucking oven) even though the house was equipped with a washing room that they used as a storage room.

Is it a department thing that stuck up or what?

No, it was a drying machine and a washing machine (those with a glass door so you can see your toddler inside), they did the dishes like normal people.

Britfag here. Almost all lower to middle class houses in the U.K have the washing machine in the kitchen. Some people have them in a garage or laundry room/closet but it's not the norm. Where are you from where this is unusual? I figured Americans who tend to have larger houses would be more likely to have dedicated laundry areas. It's probably linked to population density and large scale housing projects

>> No.8764111

>>8763552
>Why are your washing machines in your kitchens?

That's very unusual in the USA. You might have a diswasher in the kitchen but the laundry washer is nearly always in a dedicated room, or is in the garage.

The only thing I can think of is that the home you visited was an particular type of prefab home that were built in pretty large numbers after WWII. Those had only one "wet wall" to simply construction, and they did have washer hookups in the kitchen. However, like I said that's unusual and not typical of the average American house.

You misunderstand. It is uncommon to have a *laundry* washing machine in the kitchen.

A dishwasher, obviously, would be in the kitchen.

>> No.8764209

>>8764111
>particular type of prefab home that were built in pretty large numbers after WWII. Those had only one "wet wall" to simply construction

Yep, that was called the "Lustron House".

Otherwise the only other reason why you'd find a laundry washer in the kitchen would be if it was a very old, simple, home that didn't have the proper pipes located elsewhere in the house to hook up the machine. If someone wanted to retrofit a machine to an old house like that then the kitchen would present the easiest/cheapest place to install it.

the other side of Trump's wall, a.k.a. Mexico. Here the very poor who own washing machines still have a dedicated area for laundry, but it's outside, sometimes not completely roofed, I guess so they can dry things easily.

And that is true even for mass produced houses, they all have tubing for gas and water somewhere where you are supposed to instal your washing and drying machines.

I can't speak for the rest but a lot of Ecuadorian get really fat. The ones where I live and the ones in Ecuador. Most of the "cuisine" in mainland Ecuador is either something fried or some bread product.
