As a little kid, I always removed the pickles without question. Thought they were disgusting.

As an adult, I came to love pickles in all forms (except bread-and-butter - ugh). They stay in. If they're served on the side, they go in.

All that being said, McD's pickles are kind of weird. I'll still eat them, though.
