Sorry, "confirmed" may have been a bad choice of words on my part. The video creators obviously never came out and said it was fake, and there was no investigation which led people to find out if it was legitimate or not. However, there are quite a few things that strongly suggest that the video is indeed illegitimate.

1) Even the Chinese know that it's dumb to skin something alive for a variety of reasons. It takes longer to skin something that isn't dead, it's more dangerous for the butcher, it ruins the fur, and it's illegal (yes, even in China). I've seen videos of Chinese skinning dogs for their meat and fur and even they know to kill them first. That skinning section also doesn't have a single dog in it, the animal in that section is basically an over-sized raccoon.

2) The video creators and distributors (a swiss animal protection group with unconfirmed credibility) were contacted by animal rights groups and even Chinese officials so that they could try to get to the bottom of the video. When the video creators were contacted by said groups, they were asked for a variety of things such as unedited footage with sound, the date the video was created, the exact location of the videos filming, and the perpetrators in the video. The guys who made the video refused to comply with any of the requests and left it at that.

3) There's one strange give-away in that video and it's actually at the end after they've skinned the animal then thrown it onto/near a pile of other corpses. The other animal corpses actually look kind of "clean" as if they were killed first then skinned afterwords due to a lack of struggle and more careful skinning procedures. The only body that looks vile and gross is the one that was just skinned and it looks that way for obvious reasons (such as constantly struggling as it was skinned).

4) It’s not uncommon for people to get paid to do things that they normally would not have done. There’s an example of a Canadian seal-hunter from the 1960’s who was filmed/photographed poking or skinning a seal on camera and that footage was later used to spark anti-seal hunting campaigns. It turns out that the guy who was being filmed/photographed was actually paid to do what he did and that he never actually did that before. He swore this under oath that he was telling the truth in court. It’s suspected that the skinning video is something similar to that.
