I will always try local brews. Some good some not so good. I'm going to a blocktoberfest tomorrow to try out a new brewery in town. My favorite local right now is True Vine brewery.. I support the brand because they are just really great people...and they make really good beer.

True Vine Promised Land is my favorite by them atm. Right now I'm trying Mermaids and Unicorns, a pale ale, that the guys brewed in honor of their bby girls. It's decent.

Deep Ellum Easy Peasy is also good...Dallas brewery.

However....My favorite IPA at the moment is Dankasaurus. Smells like weed when you open it but it's smooth as silk. Excellent brew!!

it was still a fairly common way to differentiate between scottish ales up until recently.

Yes. It's decent and drinkable, but I don't think there's anything exceptional about it.

I prefer darker beers, and it seems like this tasting room carries a lot of dark, small-batch beers in order to gauge consumer reaction. They've made some really fantastic barrel-aged brews that have a very limited market supply. For example, they recently had a dark chocolate and coconut, barrel-aged Narwhal. It was like drinking a milder Almond Joy that was coated in dark chocolate.

My problem with porters and stouts and beers like that is that I live in Florida and it always just seems more enjoyable and appropriate to drink something a bit more refreshing. Got Long Trail Ale, Long Trail Limbo IPA, Sierra Nevada Tropical Torpedo, Samuel Adams Oktoberfest, Unearthed, and Von Trapp Pilsner.

Unearthed tastes vile. I was waterboarded with the taste of a thousand farts condensed into one sip. Smells precisely how it tastes.

Von Trapp Pilsner has a slight bad taste to it, but it is totally mild compared to the shitwater of Unearthed. It has a similar smell to Unearthed, but it isn't noticeable unless I look for it.

Octoberfest smells okay, and the taste is fine. Has a shitty bitter aftertaste that I can't get past though. No fun.

Long Trail Ale has a smooth taste, with a less noticeable bitterness than the Octoberfest. Might be my current favourite as far as beer goes.

Limbo IPA is just gross. The bitterness hit immediately and the taste added to the bitterness.

Tropical Torpedo is worse than Limbo. It doesn't taste tropical at all and I feel lied to. Betrayal, a bitter taste in my mouth, and now the cap is missing.

Thoughts? I might just fucking quit trying to enjoy beer and stick to whiskey and rum.

As someone raised in the Mid-Atlantic this is a staple beer that everyone drinks, maybe a tier or two above the big lagers.

In the mid to late 2000s I used to see people on the west coast trading for it on beer forums like it was the east coast Russian River or something. It was quite hilarious. Not making fun of anyone, but it's pretty much a go to beer for teenagers and 20 year olds over here, so it was weird to see people trying to get it like that. they only seem to sell like 3 beers

Club and Pilsener are the main ones, I've had Club and it's good in my opinion for a pale adjunct style lager, but it's crisp and drinkable

Have a good time in Ecuador! I went there a few years ago and loved it.

I always return to St. Bernardus Abt 12 just to remind me how shitty most beer is.

This is my gold standard. Best BEER i've ever had.

It's a staple of my fridge.

Other cheep beers i keep in my fridge (for visiting guests to my home) is Rolling Rock, Yuengling and Killians Irish Red.

I used to keep JW Dundee Honey Brown and Newcastle Brown Ale and/or Hoegaarden, but these have lost quality when they were bought out by the MACROS. Taste cheap and shitty now.

>being this oblivious to xocovesa hype

This beer is god-tier in every respect. If you don't like dark beers, stouts, spiced beers, or chile'd beers then this beer is not for you and you can fuck off with your judgement.

If you're the kind of person that calls craft beer a "meme", then I implore you to take a look at any great invention and take note of how it evolved throughout history. Go look at what planes used to look like before we settled on the 747, or what doctors would prescribe their patients for the common cold before we settled on contemporary remedies (hint: it was meth and cocaine).

People should be so glad that Americans are creating every possible combination of beer, for better or worse, because that's how you discover something truly monumental. The first person to place beer in a bourbon barrel must have been laughed at and called an epic memer, but little did they know that the dude was onto something huge.
