The least shitposting way to summarize might be: refer to regions. Which means yes and no, depending on where you're from and what you grew up recognizing as such. Take Chicago versus NY for example; the Chicago take is basically NY pizza is cheesy bread because they grew up with lasagna-style pizza. Conversely, NY style relies heavily on sauce and cheese. But across Italy, olive oil is used more frequently than sauce--light, airy...sauce is for pasta, mostly. Can all be wrong? Depends where you grew up.

My 'Talian family used to make two versions of the grandma pizza, but I was always into the white because it was so simple; almost like a crazy bread or something. Basically olive oil, basil, oregano, diced tomatoes, and light cheese (mozzarella and parm). Cut grandma style with red pepper flakes on the side. Crust was crispy, but most of it was soft. You could add to it if you wanted but it also worked alone.
