Well, if you omit the salt and butter, they taste like cardboard.

Nacho cheddar is pretty based too, I pop popcorn in coconut oil and douse it with that shit and it's like the theatres, where I always overuse it anyway.

Most cheap popcorn is vegan. The butter is soy and potato starch.

These taste really bad to me. Like, they're overly sweet to keep americans happy. Even the savory flavors.

You could use powdered ranch seasoning, grated parmesan, I like montreal steak seasoning, or taco seasoning. Also this: https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/articles/50-flavored-popcorn-recipes

This should be obvious. How do you flavor things? Seasonings, condiments, toppings (such as mixing in chocolate chips or something if you want sweet), cheese...

I'll butter + salt it too. I think it's important to use finely ground sea salt, not iodized. You can throw some reeses pieces in there too, and it gets a bit melty and nice, getting a couple in each bite. A friend of mine loves to pour over jalapeno pickle juice (from the jar, or ask movie theatres for a container of it). It's got the vinegar and salt chip kind of theme, and quite good.

Most of all, I like to make my own chili-lime popcorn. I always have an assortment of dried chilies on hand for making mexican delights in my normal rotation of food, from a quick enchilada sauce to tuck into a casserole, or for a topping. Here's how to make a chili topping.
-Warm oil in a small nonstick. Add scissor cut strips of deseeded ancho, pasilla or california chilies. These are rainsin-y rich in flavor and not too hot. Carefully stir fry, moving around to prevent burning. As soon as crisp remove to bowl. No need to drain, just to cool down to stop cooking. Take pan off the burner to cool.
To butter and salted popcorn, add zest from one lime, juice if you want, otherwise, just pour over the crisp chili strips to combine with popcorn, and add any reserved chili oil (optional). Sometimes seeds can bitter the oil. Check it for deliciousness.

You can add any powdered seasoning to popcorn...any one. The butter is a vessel for the seasoning since dry popcorn doesn't adhere to anything but I guess you could use an oil variation or even vinegar if you're feeling retarded. It's butter + whatever you want.

How is this complicated or confusing to anyone?

Cook honey, brown sugar, vanille extract and butter (or oil) together until real thick, then pour it over your popcorn. You can also add chopped-up peanuts.

Jesus Christ, its popcorn. Why church it up with anything other than salt and butter. Try dipping it in good ranch dressing, mustard or worcesterschire. Im American.

I think hot sauce isn't good for popcorn since it's a liquid and will make the popcorn not have it's pop so to speak. A bit of butter and some kind of powder to the liking of whoever does better IMO.

try burning a little bit of chilli powder in a dry pan and see what happens before you potentially ruin a whole batch of popcorn.

Use ghee so there's less moisture. Buy white cheese powder. Caramel popcorn is kinda a bitch to make properly but is delicious.

Also, a bit of toasted sugar:

https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2016/05/dry-toasted-sugar-granulated-caramel-recipe.html

makes a lovely kettle corn.
