Upstate New York(Saratoga Springs) had some the best food in a place I've ever lived in by and large. The Charleston Food scene was pretty good too, I'm a sucker for seafood and BBQ though. Connecticut sucked ass except for the pizza(decent) and seafood( better than average). Texas is.... okay, the Whataburger meme is pretty good. Besides that fast food chain, the Tex-Mex is solid, and I've had some really good "homecooked" feeling meals from hole in the wall places. Washington sucks fucking ass balls unless you love salmon and dungeness crab, which you have to cook yourself(it's cheap as shit at the market). San Diego was a nice blend of shit when I visted. Lots of good ramen places, sushi, and a few good steakhouses.

Whataburger is barely a step above McDonalds. 99% of the flavor comes from covering everything in some kind of sweet sauce, spicy sauce, cheese, ranch dressing, or a combination thereof. The meat is flavorless, regardless of what kind you get, and the side-menu items are not anything different than what literally every other basic fast food place offers. The majority of the menu is strictly mediocre, and what isn't is barely above average. The only positive thing I can say about eating at the place is that I've never had a bad burger there - but I've also never had a particularly good one, either. It is the living definition of, "I guess this is alright."
