This is a traditional New England Style 3-way roast beef sandwich - Beef w/ cheese, mayo & bbq sauce. It's a staple of our diet here along with seafood.

What are some traditional sandwiches from your neck of the woods?

It is special, it's not the only place to get a decent dog, but it's one of the better ones and trust me as a lover of chili dogs in general, throwing some Wolf on Ballpark Frank is not the same. If we limit the definition of "neck of the woods" to the neighborhood surrounding the university I went to, the Fat Sal is probably the poster boy sandwich. An overengineered roast beef sandwich that someone shoved a dive bar snack sampler into (onion rings, mozz sticks, and french fries) gilded with beef gravy on garlic bread. I shunned the joint as a stunt-eater's dump, but soon after discovered that it's a transcendent ending to a 8 hour stint of drinking a lot and eating nothing, and, barring that, a perfect hangover cure.

Because the East coast treats hotdogs like fucking hotdogs. The midwest treats them like they're the pinnacle of culinary innovation. Once again, the east coast still realizes that they're just hotdogs no matter what you put on them. Everybody zazzles them up. The midwest glorifies them and acts like having a hotdog variation somehow makes them more relevant. These are the only dishes the midwest are known for, at least the East coast has tons of other shit and doesn't fall back on a fucking hotdog or hamburger to say "this is us".
