I never knew how to cook because I grew up under this advice from my parents:
Its cheaper to just eat out then it is it spend the time, collect ingredients you'll only use once, and have a meal turn out unedible.
Thoughts?

If you don't have the competency required to make a meal then yeah at that point you might as well eat out, not like you're going to be able to come close to replicating restaurant quality food otherwise. Bad advice though, because that's how you end up fat and diabetic at age 30

>Fresh vegetables are expensive
Frozen vegetables mixes are a pretty good, cheaper alternative for making something like a stir fry. If you can cook eggs and rice already, youre pretty much halfway to making good stir fry. You could try starting there

if you buy something like this, and follow this recipe:
https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/222658/frozen-vegetable-stir-fry/
And add rice at the end with a little more soy sauce. Add a fried or scrambled egg too if you want.
If you learn to cook chicken in a pan, you can add sliced up chicken to the recipe and make it even better

Negligible difference between driving to restaurant or drive in or to cook something up for weekday body fueling
>collect ingredients you'll only use once
But you'll eat at least twice a day every day lest you starve? I don't get this point.
>have a meal turn out unedible
This doesn't even make a valid argument since being able to cook passable meal is basic life skills like staying afloat or knowing how to wipe your ass proper.

Bet your parent's time and effort wasn't all that valuable if they were that dumb.

Get familiar with dried legumes like beans, chickpeas, lentils. Soak them overnight in double the water, then boil for hours until tender. Get a pressure cooker. Now combine the indredients above with cheap cuts of meat, such as beef ribs, neck, shoulder, beef and chicken liver, chicken legs, thighs, etc. Take out the bones if youre fancy.

Olive oil, garlic, rosemary, thyme, citrus peels for mediterranean

Sesame/peanut oil, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, chilies for 'asian'

Serve on rice

Want to save tons of money? Prep meals and freeze, only cook rice fresh.

Fresh vegetables/salads add variety to these macros.

That's not even true most of the time.

Get a package of chicken breasts. Cook up a couple of pieces. Eat one with dinner and save the other for a chicken sandwich the next day for lunch. Cook up another couple of pieces from the package you bought to make quesadillas and/or tacos. Cook up the last few pieces, shred it and put it into a soup, which you would get multiple servings from. Even if you devote the whole package for one dish, you'll get multiple servings from it.

Sure, if you're worried about food cost (lul poor) it makes sense to cook cheap meals at home, but if you're like me and have plenty of money to buy whatever you want, it really isn't more expensive to eat out than to cook at home. Especially if you get take-out on your way home from work, so you don't have to pay for transportation or tips for loser server cucks.

P.S. Enjoy your shitty frozen vegetables and ramen poorfags lol

Has no one ever heard of rice and beans? I mean it's simple but still tasty and cheap as fuck. You cheapest meal out is probably a McDouble with water, but you can make burgers at home for a few bucks.

Weird, I am the exact opposite. When I see prices of meals in restaurants I think "This price for that? I can cook something similar at home for much less." It is because I am stingy that I rarely eat out.

>> No.10550179

>>10549582
One of the most important things about eating on the cheap, especially with fresh vegetables, is knowing where you can buy things for the best prices. I can go to the closest grocery store and pay twice as much for meat as one a little further away. At my old place, I could drive an extra five minutes, skip the pricey grocery stores next to a college campus, and get a huge spread of fresh vegetables for under $10.

And yes, frozen vegetables are great, too.
