Also I was >>10732026, and it's aspic, it for some reason was very popular in the 50s and 60s, or at least my parents said it was. They made it for me once and it was really gross, just adds tasteless jelly texture to the food.

True aspic was from haute cuisine and was made by boiling meats to extract gelatine, and flavored with herbs and so on, as one would make a stock or a demi glace.

The 50s and 60s version of aspic was made with packaged gelatine and artificial dyes, essentially flyover lime jello, but not sweet, and usually paired with unappealing canned meat byproducts.
