I'm not familar with that specific recipe, but my gripe with Gordon's burger recipes in general are that he tends to make meatloaf and not a hamburger. A proper hamburger is 100% beef. Nothing more except perhaps a seasoning like salt and pepper. Gordon's recipes (along with his partner in crime, Jamie Oliveoil) call for breadcrumbs, egg, and all sorts of other crazy stuff to be added.

Gordon does a world-class job cooking traditional British food, as well as classic French fine dining. His Italian isn't bad either. but once he gets out of that comfort zone he fails hard. Have you seen some of his Asian recipes? Good lord they are awful.

Then again I'm sure LeBron James' snooker and rugby skills are pretty piss poor too.

Let me rephrase my gripe with his asian recipes. They do taste good, I'll give you that. But they're not even remotely authentic. I'm not one of those "muh authentic" spergs in general, but they don't even taste close to what the dish should taste like. His Green Curry, for example. Yeah, it's tasty. But it's very far removed from what I expect when I hear the name "Green Curry". Same with his duck stir-fry with hoisin. I made that pretty often. It's good, but it's not like anything you'd be served in Asia.

What I find ironic about that is that Gordon seems very strict about following tradition when you discuss British or French recipes. If you were to suggest making a bunch of changes to Cassoulet or Coq Au Vin I'm sure he'd tear you a new asshole. Yet he makes the exact same sort of changes when he cooks anything other than British or French.

They either stack or make the patty a monstrous size so that you either have to use a knife and fork which will tear the burger to pieces or have it fall apart in your hands and get sauce and grease and crap it all around your mouth trying to take bites, god this infuriates me.
