remove the cap & place it on piece of paper for a night, if the print is blue then you have a safe mushroom

The only really common mushrooms you'll find growing in your yard that'll be edible are going to be puffballs. They aren't really worth it, either. If you can find some morels in the forest, those are worth it, and almost unmistakable (false morels are obvious) due to their "brainlike" caps.
