Who the hell takes the time to write a review this long?

I mean seriously who cares about your worthless review that much

this honestly

It seems like the guy really liked the place and is genuinely upset that he can't get a good meal there anymore. Petty to leave a bad review rather than call mgmt though.

>petty

not really. calling management will get a half-assed apology and $5 coupon, and then brushed under the rug.

exposing incompetence to the court of public opinion (in this case yelp) is the most direct way to force a place to impact their behavior, as you can bet the big bosses will come down hard on management seeing these reviews.

yelp is everything in today's food industry

You seem pretty jaded.

I can't speak for all business owners-and certainly not restaurant owners, since I'm in an entirely different line of work--but it always boggles my mind when I have a customer report problems on a random website. If they'd simply contacted me instead I'd gladly have fixed the problem. Posting to random 3rd parties does nobody any good, the customer included.

>>yelp is everything in today's food industry
If that's true it's amazingly sad. Yelp reviews are full of bullshit. I can't imagine how restaurant owners stay sane with the BS that's on yelp.

one bad review is nothing though, as long as there's other reviews. When you start seeing a lot of people complaining about the same thing, then you start to suspect it's a shitty place.

protips. if its like 10 to 15 percent bad reviews and most are stupid ass boomer complaints its probably good.

now once your hitting above that there is probably a genuine issue with the restaurant

basically just use it as a baseline before going out to that restaurant

Not for that incident specifically, you're correct. No one customer has the power to change an industry's practices, but hundreds of thousands (perhaps even millions) of individuals giving feedback from which other customers make their decisions? That's power, more than a call to some tired lower-management lackey will ever have

That might be true for situations involving megacorporations. But for smaller businesses a single Email absoloutely can make a difference;
It's happened in my business on mutiple occaisions. And I suspect that most places on yelp are not megacorps.

Hot as fuck half of the year, lots of indoor time, lots of shitposting and/or outright retardation online. Huge AZ presence on 4chan and on social media in general, would not be surprised if normie shit like Yelp isn't the same way. People like this eat out just to write about it later.

We have a joke in the bar industry: If you want to know what pisses off spoiled little asian girls, go to Yelp.
Did you know we can just pay and get most one star reviews removed? Enjoy your impotent rage, Yoko.
By the way, over half of all one star reviews against restaurants and bars on Yelp are literally just women pissed off about waiting too long for service. Bitches be hatin' to be waitin'.

99% of that "review" is useless because it lacks details or explanation. They might have gotten somewhere when they mentioned the "messed up our order" but dind't give any details.

We, the reader, have no idea if they made a fuckup on something very basic, or if anon was triggered because they missed some tiny detail out of a potentially highly complex order. If they served you anchovies when you ordered cheese that's one thing. If you and you associates ordered three dozen speciality pizzas with autismo instructions right before close and one tiny detail wasn't right I don't care, that's on you not them. But because that information is lacking the whole review is worthless.

Lmao. It doesn’t matter how complex the order is, you’re going to an inordinate extreme that would invalidate any potential legitimate criticism. “The doctor wasn’t negligent the patient had too many problems” “the chef didn’t perform poorly he just made too many dishes” These are poor excuses. The key is that the one person complaining is probably parallel to 10 people who didn’t leave a review but also had a bad inconsistent experience.
