They pretty much are, though. American cheese in general you can't really use for anything but making grilled cheese for whiny autists.

I disagree. Taste, texture and the way they melt are completely different. Kraft singles are plastic shit, deli American actually has a decent taste. It's a great cheese for sandwiches. It's nothing special obviously but it's not supposed to be. I feel like a lot of the hate for it is just another thing for snobs to be snobby about.

I have gotten into serious arguments with my father about washing rice. I want to wash the rice and he doesn't want to let me because he "likes the taste better" if it's unwashed

>> No.11228273

>>11228097

I mostly hate it because I ate it for years before discovering there are other kinds of cheese out there with more character.

Now it's just boring and bland by comparison, and the only people I know who insist on having it when alternatives are present are people with no sense of adventure who refuse to break out of their routines.

I'd change this they cook with EVOO instead of pure olive oil.
I've had two grandparents and three roomates who've done this. Can't turn on a single burner any of their houses without a billow of smoke coming out the burner for a solid two minutes.

That's totally not true, American cheese is an actual cheese, it's a blend of cheddar and Colby jack. Kraft singles are closer to ballpark nacho cheese or the stuff that comes in a can.
