Yes, but in the English speaking world we have a weird chip on our shoulders about France, so you'll see a lot of assblasted people whining about how it's only snails in butter and $5000 wine

Especially in the US where France is historically associated with fine dining and well traveled people, you can't mention a French food without some hillbilly freaking out and going insta-defensive

Even reasonably well educated people fall victim to this, my coworkers are college-educated and all have passports but if you suggest French for lunch people make up retarded excuses like "oh I'm not in the mood for weird stuff like that". Because salted cooked meat, bread and butter, and carrots is "weird", right?

>>11292298
It's one of the best for sure and it has contributed the most to cooking in general by codifying techniques etc. But other cuisines such as Italy/India/China give France a run for its money both in diversity of regional cuisines and techniques employed.

This desu, most of our traditional dishes are just slow cooked cheap cuts of meat with some sort of wine, stock and vegetables (see Boeuf carottes, blanquette de veau etc...)

Its more the fact that French food is very tasty but not the apotheosis of eating its made out to be.

>> No.11295326

Tbh it depends, most of our slow cooked dishes are amazing but most of us don't have enough time to cook them except on sundays.

I shamefully resort to Italian cooking because it's really convenient fast and tasty, and once you master the basic principles of pasta dishes you can cook with anything you have in your fridge

Because you don't have Spaniards smelling their own farts and screeching about how they're culturally superior every day.

People don't dislike French food because of the food. Its the attitude surrounding it. You get normies who think they're "cultured" sucking themselves off because they ordered a french dish, and the french themselves, who are by far the second rudest people on the planet who cant stop fellating themselves

>hurr butthurt american
Not American. Americans are third.

You're correct. We're getting a tapas bar across the street from where I work, and I've had to start telling people that it's a "place that sells tapas" because everyone just thought I was saying topless bar. No one here has ever heard of tapas before.

I worked at a fairly fancy tourist destination for several years. Jews don't shit on floors and throw diapers in sinks. They never held up traffic because they were taking selfies in the middle of the street. They wouldn't walk through and stomp on carefully laid flowerbeds.

The French arrogance comes through though when they wouldn't even try to communicate with you in any language other than French. Everyone else at least gave it their best shot to try to get English across until we could find an interpreter, but multiple times French people would simply stand their and hold the people behind them back because nobody was around to speak French to them. On top of that, if you can find someone who can speak French, they get offended when that person isn't flawlessly fluent and is "butchering" their language.

there's a big difference between throwing barely processed trash meat into a boiling pot of water until it's mushy enough to "chew" and searing a carefully considered and evenly cut tough cut then gently simmering it in flavourful wine and stock with appropriate aromatics.
