This is why I like my local McDonald’s. It’s now 24 hours so I can take my family (of 6) I’m anytime I want. Think about that for a minute, I can eat AT NANY TIME!!
And since I’m always in there I get to be great friends with the staff, especially the girl,who takes us to our seats and brings the meals out to us, she’s so cute and always with a smile even though she’s there nearly 24/7. Just like their hours. It turns out she’s so peppy because if all the cocaine the staff are given as a wage supplement. Isn’t t that thoughtful that the company’s actually cares about their health and wants to keep them in good shape.

A lot of independent restaurants don't make enough to make enough to stay open for no reason. Keep in mind a place may only make as little as 4% food profit. So keeping just one employee in the kitchen past when they need to be there is absurd. It would take several covers just to pay for a decent cook being there on above a 10%.

You're staying open because some autistic ass doesn't understand some weeks Sundays might only be 5 covers instead of 130.

You turn the grill/oven off AT closing time and finish cleaning up. If you're good at your job you're out by 11:30, but most often it's more like 11:45 to 12:00 am.

From my experience, no matter what time they set to end at theyre going to just stay at least 30 mins to an hour later. If we follow your advice, taking a place that normally closes at 10 and have them officially close at 9 instead, they are still going to end up leaving at 10 if people come in 10 mins before 9. The problem is the people. And the second thing is a business owner would never just have a free hour where employees can just clean up before going at their exact closing time without serving people. This kind of job is a bitch like that.
