There are people out there who can't even boil an egg. They put salt in water or boil to little to much. Mostly males +50
Listen: Take a pot, boil water, turn it down, add eggs, boil for 9-10 mins. cool down under cold tap water, put in fridge.

I just use non-gmo eggs.

Seems inefficient. Why not use an ice bath?

I like GMO eggs. The GMO layer is good and has more essential chemicals than standard eggs.

wrong.
Fill pan with cold water, add eggs.
Place on high heat, cover and boil the water.
At boiling point remove from heat and leave to stand for 12 minutes (still covered).
Empty hot water, fill pan with cold water and leave for 5 mins/till they're however cool you want them.
Peel

That’s even not the best way.

Boil water, turn off, add eggs, cover, let sit 12 minutes, drain and add cold water.

Perfect, not green, eggs.

Adding eggs in the water while it's still cold makes them less likely to crack while boiling.

This.
The perfect boiled egg is at the middle point between hard and soft. It should have at least a little bit of liquid yolk in there and some solid yolk parts.

Don't fucking throw them in the hot water, like literally don't throw them. Just add some vinegar into the water and even if they crack a little they won't leak because it will coagulate.

left egg is cooked just right
right egg is a little overcooked, grenish colour comes from a chemical reaction and is in no way harmful.

the yolk being more saturated mostly comes from food and it does not really stand for quality.

you start to count time NOT before the water has reached boiling point.

if you use an egg cooker it comes with a measuring cup with 3 scales, soft, medium and hardboiled eggs.
every scale has some numbers that represent how many eggs are being cooked

>> No.11427881

>>11427677
>>11427835

if you keep your eggs in the refrigerator you should definitly start with cold water or let the eggs warm up on the counter for 20 minutes (or just start with cold water and start timer when water has reached boiling point).
thermal tension makes the eggshell crack, which mostly tears up the thin layer bedween eggshell and egg.

btw, pierce your eggs or they will crack.
eggs have a little bit air on top which will expand when heated and make the egg crack.

I am neither an old wife, nor do I buy into their tales without proof, however I can see how it could make a small difference depending on the volume of vinegar used. Acids act funny at high temps. I am no cook, but I know what cider vinegar does to meat when cooking.

I hate boiled eggs, but I am just looking at how the bakers and cooks in my family do things. My place is working the grills outback. I have made poached eggs before however....I did add apple cider vinegar to that, because that is what the directions called for. I use cider vinegar on many outdoor dishes, so I always have a supply.
