Dear /ck/

What is this on my skillet? I’ve had it for about 10 years and just last year this spot showed up. I tried scrubbing it dry, using oil and kosher salt, and reseasoning it but it just doesn’t change.

Is this some rust, or a part where the seasoning got scraped off and needs to build back up? How do I save this baby?

looks like a spot where the seasoning got roughed up. worst case ontario you'll have to scrub a bit around that spot with a fine abrasive and build it back up.

you don't have to scrub it down to the metal or anything, just a little bit to smooth out some of those edges around the scuffed zone. reseason a few times after that and it should be right as rain.
