Whisk(e)y time /ck/. What are you drinking, what are you wanting to try?
Having Jefferson's for the first time. Not bad at all, different from the bourbons I'm used to: lighter, less sweet, more spice.

I've have yet to open my Bowmore 10yo, Lagavulin Distiller's edition, Laphroaig PX cask and Four Oak. Currently I've been drinking Lagavulin 16yo and Chita.
I also have Balblair 99 1st edition and Ardbeg Corrywreckan opened, but haven't had either in a while.
I have drinks with my dad every weekend and we mostly drink grappa or gin, whisky has been more on the side.

Not a big whiskey fan, more of a beer guy. But I have some Four roses that I've been making old fashioneds out of

Picked this up yesterday. Very nice. You can still smell the corn mash in it. It reminds me of the time I went whiskey tasting in Kentucky a couple of years ago

Started with a glass of Macallan 12 sherry cask, very nice if a bit light. Now I'm finishing off a bottle of Teeling rum cask, no idea about age since it's a NAS, but it tastes like it could use a couple of more years in the barrel.
Got a Redbreat 15 and Royal Lochnagar sitting around that I havn't opened yet but looking forward to.

Damn. I have to find one or two bottles now somewhere.

Tried Jefferson's Ocean and honestly was let down.

For me, I have 3 standard go-tos: Clynelish 14, Talisker 10, or Springbank 10.

From memory, Jentleman Gack is really mellow/smooth, but also very sweet, almost rum-levels of sweetness. I never buy it but I wouldn't turn my nose up at it either.

Funny they made a whiskey after him since Jefferson himself was more of a wino.

Jefferson's is the biggest meme brand next to Buffalo Trace. They just source there shit from MGP and present it at mediocre proof for a huge mark up compared to other products sourced from the same distillery. The whole ocean thing was a really good marketing idea because they've managed to get whisky they bought for cheap to be sold for $100 a bottle because it was on a boat for 2 weeks. People who are inexperienced with tasting whisky love that shit because it's the only way the can apraise the value of it to themselves.

Probably the same people who neck bottles of $100 booze to get drunk then act like their fancy when in reality they don't care about flavor or even pay attention to it.

I'm sad that the Lagavulin 8yo sold out before I could get my hands on one bottle. Now I never know how good it was

>> No.11710455

Usually an Irish fan myself, I've gotten into Bulleit (bourbon and rye), also found a bottle of barrel strength bourbon, very tasty and warming. However given my increased consumption over the holidays I've migrated to Canadian Club (which is actually good for the price..) Tried some bottom shelf tier shit "Benchmark 8". It's.. well.. maybe as good as can be expected for $9.99. It gets you trashed and doesn't taste like lighter fluid bottom shelf vodka...
