a kinda /fit/, /ck/ and /out/ crossover.

What foods can you prepare that hold for up to 3 days at any temp and also provide you with enough energy to get through the days? at the moment I always carru my fishing rod so i don't need to bring food, but for that I will always need time and water.

I will represent /fit/. Nuts and shit have very poor bioavailability and represent nothing but empty carbs. Meat/fish/animal products are the only real option for genuine nutrition, unless all you want is empty carbs and quick energy. Interpret that as you will.

Already some good info in the thread.

To add to it: you can bring perishables, just be smart about it. A proper thermos bottle can keep food hot for an entire day, though depending on your definition of "camping" you might not want the bulk. You can bring frozen perishables and eat them after they have thawed. Food that's been frozen solid, then wrapped in your sleeping bag or spare clothes, etc, will take days to thaw and you can eat it as it does.

Pemmican, suet cakes, fruitcake, tree nuts, pumpkin seeds, peanut butter, dried fruit, granola bars, beef jerky. High-energy, low weight for the nutrition density, very long shelf life, ready to eat.

>> No.11830624

Cured meats/sausage last pretty long in my experience. Saltines and long shelf life cheese. Dried fruits and nuts (read: trail mix). Protein bars. Sports drink powder mix. Tortillas and peanut butter was a good suggestion. If you can cook over a trail stove or campfire, rice and oats are good.

Consider the pumpkin seed. High protein, low carbohydrate, high fat.

Keep in mind you're going to have to squat and shit over a log, so definitely eat something that limits the number of shits you need to take. Unless you really like shitting outside in the rain. If you bring some weird high calorie dense stuff you aren't used to eating, you could get the squirts, the last thing you want when camping. Chafed, acid burned butthole is not great for those long hikes.
I recommend a bottle of 100 proof bourbon.
