Aside from sex (unless you actually experience real hunger) eating and food is like THE important topic in a human's life, so everybody has something to say about it and has a natural interest in the topic. Different tastes lead to potentially interesting conversations.

Just shitpost about vegans, Americans, chili, chicago pizza or carbonara. The more effort you put into your shitpost the less replies you'll receive.

>carbonara

Shitposting about carbonara? I've seen shitposts obviously about Americans and vegans and also about chicago pizza, that breadbowl casserole. But about carbonara? Like if cream belongs in it or not?

Getting European, and especially Italian, autists that insist shit not only can't be changed but substitutions may not be made is the perfect way to stretch a thread.

You need to play to your audience. The carbonara-based shitposting works best when most of the people browsing /ck/ have some basic knowledge of cooking. I admit that's been rare lately, but these things come in waves. Shitposting about vegans has been very effective because it relates so well with identity politics, which is all the rage with the kids. Very few people come to /ck/ these days for food and cooking, rather they're looking for posts that are an extension of what they find on /int/ and /pol/.
