Moving out into my first apartment next month, what are some kitchen cookware/tools/essentials I should get?

>> No.11922544 [DELETED]

your mum should give you all of her old stuff so she can treat herself to some new stuff. that's how it works.

My mom doesn't cook very much so all of her stuff is in great condition, she doesn't need new stuff. Also she won't give me any of her stuff.

what you need depends on what you plan to cook.

i'd want at least two pots and astainless steel frying pan. you might want a casserole dish.
standard cutlery (fork, knife, spoon, etc)
a wooden spoon, chef's knife, chopping board, glass dildo, rolling pin, potato peeler, containers to store rice and oats, maybe a fridge and possibly a cooktop. dunno.

I wouldn't say a potato peeler is necessary. I think it's better to learn to do it with a knife.

I've always just cooked rice in a pot. What are the benefits of using a rice cooker?

Multiple spatulas and bowl scrapers, you'll thank me when you haven't done the dishes in a while and you find an extra clean spatula in the drawer that you forgot about.

Pots and pans are a given at this point, other than that: garlic press, cheese grater, a couple whisks, measuring cups and spoons, a manual can opener (get one that has a bottle opener on the bottom, it's nice to have in the same place so you get to it easily when you're shitfaced)

It makes it perfect every time, like a mini slowcooker, but fast and you dont have to think about it. I have a $30 one from amazon I like a lot that has a steamer on top of it for like veggies, etc, but I throw in rice and butter and eggs half way and its pretty bomb.

I dont know how to cook so if you can manage with a pot dunno if worth it, but I like mine a lot. Can do a bunch of other things with it too apparently

you get fluffy rice. you can do it with a pot, but it's easier with a rice cooker. you could also steam stuff like a savory egg custard to go with rice.

It's faster and easier with a knife, if you do it with a chef's knife and a cutting board.

Cut the two long ends off the potato. Next, stand it upright and slice down along the sides of the potato. Flip it over and finish slicing the rest of the skin off.

>> No.11923036 [DELETED]

>>11923021
that sounds like you'll waste a lot of potato

>> No.11923343 [DELETED]

>>11923021
surely it would be faster to cut the potato in half and use an ice cream scoop to separate the flesh from the skin from the inside

You don't need much

1. 8 inch chef's knife or paring knife
2. cutting board
3. stock pot
4. nonstick frying pan
5. small pot/pan
