Why haven't you tired any portuguese dishes, ck? Most underrated cuisine in west europe, imo

In my experience that's pretty much only found in Porto.

Caldo Verde is really good. I think I bastardized it pretty hard though.

But Portugal is pretty small and there's not a big diaspora outside of Brazil, you know? Hard to get into it.

When I was in Singapore, they gave me Shrimp Mozambique as a last meal (I was put to death when police found my dope.)
It was a very fitting final meal. Cheers, Portugal.

Well Portugal is really close to Africa, for one.

I'm part portuguese and enjoy chorico and the sweet bread. Also caldo verde is good.

>Pork
A very traditional marinade for pork, at least in my area, is "Vinha d'alhos". A strong flavored white wine, a lot of garlic, pepper, salt, and some bay leaves. Ler it sit over night. Then fry it.

>Chicken
Look into "portuguese style chicken bbq", it's delicious.

Not true, it's from Porto originally but can also be found pretty much everywhere

Judging by half of the people I've met from or in Lisbon, I'd say that's where they're originally from... how has that place not been quarantined off and reconquista'd yet?

But yeah, I didn't have a bad meal the entire time I was there. I was just picking things based off of "I know these two words and they sounds pretty good together."

You should visit the north to really know what Portugal is like. I'm from Viseu, it's nothing like Lisbon.

I spent a week in the country. Porto was alright. The tiny village my friend is from was great. Lisbon was so bad we needed a week in Spain to cleanse our palates. Maybe we just had back luck, but even NYC wouldn't abide by such a pointless, intentional lack of etiquette.

OP if you're really portuguese, answer some questions for me? I'm studying foreign cuisines on my own time.
>What do you love about Portuguese food?
>What makes it uniquely Portuguese?
>What are the two or three most Portuguese dishes that will always make you think of home?

>> No.11941147

Portuguese pastries/desserts are where they excel imo but cozido à portuguesa, caldo verde, carne de porco à alentejana, caldeirada, or anything with cod are also really good.
