What is a good dish you could cook for a date?
Gotta be something simple enough that you don't fuck it up, but also interesting enough to "wow" your date.
I was thinking some sort of asian stir fry, maybe fried noodles or rice of some variation?

That's a pretty good one! Definitely got that "wow" factor without taking a whole lot of effort

red-wine braised short ribs or osso bucco. takes a few hours to make but its mostly waiting time and only half an hour of active prep; pair with mashed potatoes and sauteed asparagus or oven roasted artichokes. maybe oven braised ragu bolognese with some pasta and some wine

makes the kitchen smell nice; hard to screw up; the few hours of cook time makes it seem like you put in a lot of effort into it and cook time is long enough that most people wouldn't eat it regularly, making it feel special

Roast chicken quarters with roasted vegetables. Tastes good, looks good, makes your kitchen smell good. It's easy to make, so once you put everything in the oven you can go spend your time tidying up or whatever you need to do to get ready. They're pretty difficult to overcook, so even if you're not watching them too closely you're unlikely to mess it up.

This. Some kind of braised salmon in a wine sauce, with some noodles or rice and veggies.

Both elegant, romantic, and easy.

If your asian stir fry is impressive, it won't be easy. If your asian stir fry is easy, it won't be an impressive recipe.

Also, if they are asian, there is almost no chance that will impress them.

Pasta is pretty foolproof plus its not super heavy and will carb you up for a good fuck session.

I always make sure to cook something heavy in umami

I don't try to wow people, because no matter what that comes off as obvious and try hard.

I make food that tastes good, whichever food I'm feeling like having at the moment and that we both agree on. Could be fucking something as "boring" as pork shops and asparagus, if she says it tastes good then the job is fucking done.

if you have the bollox
buy a large pigs head (over 7kg)
shave and burn off any remaining hair
soak and wash the outside, thoroughly
brine for a day
remove the brain if it has been cut to allow it
place it in a large pot with veg (onions, carrots, celeriac, leeks, and parsnips (cut roughly, and/or use trimmings), and bring to a good simmer, some herbs (parsley, thyme, rosemary, a teenie bit of salt, and pork or veg stock to cover
skim it and cook gently for about 3 hours, or until things are starting to fall apart
this is the fun bit
remove the ears, slice a few mm thick, and fry hard in a lot of oil
remove the cheeks, with the skin and fat attatched, and cool in the liquid
remove the tongue, peel the skin whilst still hot, and slice thinly when cooled down (in the liquid
remove all the nice little bits of meat that remain and the fats, seperate from the skin
remove the veg and herbs, then add the skin back into the liquid, and reduce this for a few hours, by about 4/5ths, skimming as you go.
cook some green lentils or your choice of bean in this liquid, then add the little pieces of meat and fat (chop these down a little)
serve the tongue as thin slices against the grain, topped with a little thinly sliced onion relish
serve the cheek by broiling the top slowly till the fat has rendered and skin is crispy, then slicing
serve the brain on little bits of cracker or toast
arrange all of these atop the beans, and garnish with some herbs from your garden

A bowl of yakisoba like in the OP is technically a stir fry.
Looks pretty appealing, if done and garnished nicely.
Most people can barely fry a piece of meat in a pan when it comes to cooking.
A dish like that with a lot of ingredients is gonna wow people, and fried noodles like that are fun to watch get prepared.
