I assume thats the point anyway, to break your spirit so you wont leave. He didnt argue with me, suprisingly. They also piped in boomer grade rock music non stop over the PA. So it was like 80 songs on loop, but of course working 9-10 hours a day, it felt like youd hear the same shit every other track. It made me rage so much, I made formal complaints yet never got a reply. My last day there I finally got to the bottom of where the music was actually being broadcasted from and I told them to turn it way up, because I couldnt hear it...they did.

T. Used to be a sandwich artist in a small town

Mind you nobody did any actual work apart from the church rush in the morning and the dinner rush of college kids. Thing is tho, Subway or any of these sub shops are the primo of fastfood work. They pay a few dollars more than minimum wage, you take a few online courses and you're making closer to 10/Hr and if you're some idiot out of HS with no oppourtunities its not bad. Also the most ive ever eaten subway in my life.

Found a better job tho, legit refuse to work any fast food they want me to touch deepfriers on.

Elizabeth Holmes was clearly a fraud and an idiot, but there were legitimate chemists working there. You have to remember before they got busted it was viewed as a highly reputable company with a board of directors including Henry Kissinger, James Mattis, and George Shultz. There was nothing wrong with the chemists and engineers working there. The problem was Holmes is retarded and had them tasked with an insane and functionally impossible goal that nobody could ever deliver on no matter how skilled or intelligent because it wasn't even physically coherent.

The whole organization was probably a total scheme and I'm sure eventually most of the management wound up in jail, and the employees either ended up on hard drugs or realized they were at Rock bottom and turned their lives around. Nobody said anything about drunken impulse.
I said poor impulse control in general.
There people go to the tattooist to get a tattoo. Not to get a tattoo of something that matters to them, but just to get one.
So instead of getting something that is at least meaningful, like a commemoration of service on a ship or in a war, they get a Disney character or a Skyrim reference, Pickle Rick, or the word "covfefe".
I'm no fan of tattoos in general, but a tattoo about your tours in Viet-Nam will at least stay relevant your whole life. Some retarded Twitter joke nobody remembers a year later; not so much.

That said, it doesn't matter what the ink is actually about; getting it, especially in a very conspicuous spot like your forehead, will affect your ability to get work later. If you get one you are forfeiting a lot of opportunities on purpose. Sounds like a shitty decision to me.
I don't hate people with lots of ink. I just quietly assume they don't know how to plan ahead. If I were in the business of hiring I would let this affect my decisions.

In these sorts of jobs, there's a much stronger form of oppression than in previous forms of employment. Not only do you have to DO your job, you must LOVE to do your job. If you have a traditional sort of boss--someone who just demands your labour in exchange for wages, you can at least openly dislike your situation. You can dislike going to work, chat with your coworkers about how much your job sucks, and so on. But in these sorts of jobs, absolutely none of that cynicism is permitted. Everyone is some sort of supervisor or employee wellness representative or some other such bullshit, and any sort of acknowledgement that you do not enjoy going to work, or are only going to work because you get paid, will result in some action being taken against you. You aren't even allowed the basic human right of not enjoying yourself. Since the workplace is where we spend most of our time, this means that for many of us (along with the millions of other wagies) spend most of our waking hours under a sort of brutal authoritarianism that has never existed before even in outright dictatorships.

At Taco Bell, people who make food are called "Food Champions" and cashiers are called "Service Champions", but they don't have to do any humiliating shit like song-and-dance. If you see it at your Taco Bell, it's down to the store manager or the employees themselves. There used to be a fat black guy at mine who would sing customers' orders back to them and do a dance. I asked him why and he said he could get a $50 visa gift card if he got 10 100% surveys in a day.

There's a reason why. Reminder that the best selling drug of any kind a few years back was literally an antipsychotic that started getting prescribed for all sorts of random non-psychosis problems like depression or insomnia

>The latest pharmaceutical industry update from ISR Reports ranked Abilify as the top-selling drug.
>The antipsychotic medication for treatment of depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia totaled $7.2 billion in sales between June 2013 and June 2014 — nearly $1 billion more than its closest rivals, according to numbers compiled from Medscape.
>The anti-inflammatory biologic Humira and heartburn drug Nexium recorded $6.3 billion in sales during that span, followed by cholesterol medication Crestor at $5.7 billion and, at $5.1 billion in sales, psoriasis and arthritis treatment Enbrel and asthma and COPD treatment Advair.

They say this happens because of some brain chemisty reason, but I dont buy it.
Most of our waking hours are at work, then factor in going to work or coming home from it. it makes me feel panicy sometimes that im going to do the same things over and over besides my 12-14 days of vacation I get a year until im old or dead.

Nope. You won't find a study on people spending more or less in terms of buying more food or not based on the staff, but you can read all about how that has no impact on how much money the customer decides to spend for tip:
>The percent tipped in these studies was related to group size, the customer's gender, the method of payment (cash or credit), and in some cases, the size of the bill. Tipping was not related to service quality, waitperson's efforts, waitperson's gender, restaurant's atmosphere, or restaurant's food.

Chili's Grill & Bar. Had an old burnout fry cook in his later 50s maybe 60 who was really good at his job. Always really quiet. Polite. Little by little he started talking a lot more and laughing at shit instead of his usual smile that was probably forced anyway. The manager saw this as a bad thing for some reason and assumed he was doing drugs. But in reality he had started taking antidepressants and smoking weed at night to help with sleep. Queue drug test. He didn't even bother taking it, he knew he'd fail it. He quit. We found out he killed himself a few days later. My guess is he felt like this was just the end of the same fucking cycle he'd been on since forever. So he said fuck it. Morons the lot of them and they damn well should be seen in the same shitty light that Holmes is in that should follow their careers.

>before they got busted it was viewed as a highly reputable company

Just like ALL fucking companies before they get busted!

>with a board of directors including Henry Kissinger, James Mattis, and George Shultz.

Implying any of them even knew or gave a shit about what was going on other than steve jobs. 2.0 female version was highly marketable as an 'exec'. Look at that 'Juicero' product for an idea how clownish the investment circles can be for 'the next big thing'. All those big names attached and investing - for what? A fucking wifi juicer which doesn't even juice anything but squeezes a pouch.

>There was nothing wrong with the chemists and engineers working there.

And in the same paragraph you outright state ''had them tasked with an insane and functionally impossible goal''

These people were therefore Sisyphean idiots doing a task they KNEW was impossible, KNEW was impracticable considering what was expected, and KNEW she was a fraud for what she was allegedly claiming was possible. Red flags were popping up all over the place and they used every deceptive practice to avoid being blown. 4

Why on earth are you defending any of the idiots who worked there? Money grubbing charlatans the lot of them.

nothing feels better than being able to NEET out if possible. those days are over for me now. I used to do that between shitty jobs, I lived with my gf/parents/my car/friends house. it was hectic, but when you are a 20 something with no real expenses, its fun sorta.
I dream of having a work related injury and having a comfy year of physical therapy, drinking tea and watching chinese cartoons without a care in the world, maybe do some mountain hiking like I used to. if this doesnt naturally happen, ill pay my rent 6 months in advance and be comfy for at least that long and just get another job. Gotta keep your hopes up you wont blink, and youre an old man. Gotta have something to look forward to, bros. If youre reading this, and youre a typical wage slave, take a few days off just for yourself and go somewhere alone. it gives your life a feeling of purpose.

The dance may be an okish change of pace, I think, but the shirt is the most degrading part of it.
It's like a dog who has a ridiculous name like Princess Sassy, but the dog has it easier, it's just a dumb dog; you instead, are fully aware of how degrading it is, and it has to kick in harder when you know that you have no say in it if you want (need) to stay working there.

I can't muster how it must be like to have one of those shit days, when you get home late, completely drained and exhausted, only to look at your "I love my work!" t-shirt as you take it off and hang it, only to be forced to put it on again the very next morning. "I love my work!".
At that point, wearing a collar with the name "Fido" on it, doesn't sound so bad.

Funny you say that. People from communist countries are also forced to be overly enthusiastic and do ridiculous chants and dances in the name of their overlords.

And then we pretend to have the higher ground, when in reality the big faceless corporations force their slaves to do the exact same thing.

The worst is when you work a food-service job, do all the tasks necessary to close the store, and the boss complains that you and the night crew talk too much.

Best part is that he only knows that we talk because he watches the camera feed. So this guy chooses on his off time to watch us work at home. What a freak man.

Yea thats not gonna happen anytime soon. The guy owns the company. I can't wait till all of the old boomers die off and we can get some people who actually know what its like to work the bottom be on top. This idea that your workers must always be working even if there is no work to be done is retarded.
