A bit confused about the collar thing on the stem of the shrooms.
Thought only poisonous mushrooms had that, but whatever.
They're so big I had to cut them some extra to get them to fit.

I usually stay away from poisonous mushrooms but I'm treating myself today.
Gonna eat them with the help of my mushroom scooper #6969 for maximum pleasure.

It's a special pleasure you derive from getting a tasty meal and then getting to go back to your home.
I'm glad my owners permitted me to live in such a fancy room.

based,
I have been cooking my food for the past 6 months in this shitty rice cooker I have in my room bc anxiety reasons. I've fried up some maitake, done some shiitake rolls, etc. I just bought some dehydrated matsutake that I want to try out.

top shelf from left to right is porcini (the god of shrooms), shiitake, oyster and girolle, and white truffle oil for frying them all.

this incidentally is perhaps the tastiest meal on the damn planet...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56BK1nCc67A
but fuck using fresh morels like ramsay does, it's just as nice with dried porcini, and like a quarter the cost.

With what approximate tier of edginess would you have labelled a jar of pickled eggs, if not labelling them "pickled eggs"? Seems reasonably appropriate all things considered.

>> No.12266179

>>12263203
Dried mushrooms are great, drying something that already has a lot of taste makes for a good ingredient.
>>12263666

I don't actually know what type of mushroom it is, I just know they're tasty.

>>12264071
Why wouldn't you label it as pickled eggs?
I get that you'd know they are pickled eggs, but wouldn't it be quite bland and strange to just have a jar of eggs on a shelf?
The mushrooms are self-explanatory, but eggs not so much.

That's the ring from the partial veil breaking once the mushroom becomes mature. The veil protects the delicate structures that produce spores while they're developing.

What you're thinking of is a volva from a universal veil, which shows up on the most common kinds of deadly mushrooms in the US (Deadly Amanitas).

>> No.12266717

>>12260725
For the most part, only Agaricus have rings.

>> No.12266725

>>12266690
Ah, I thought that the partial veil was the indicator.
Thanks for the info.

Probably gonna cook some more mushrooms soon and post that on here, they're starting to grow almost too big.

How does one transfer mycelium to a new batch of soil?
Beginner here, it seems as if my mushrooms are slowing down, and it seems as if the usual cause of that is the mycelium not needing to spread more and lack of nutrients.
How do I transfer my mycelium to a new batch of soil without any fancy gear?
I have a bunch of healthy soil at my disposal, I just need to know safety measures because there might be wild mycelium and bacteria growing in my replacement soil aswell.
Thanks in advance if you give me any advice.

>> No.12267082

>>12266875
just bake the soil in the oven first then chuck the mycelium in. these things grow in the wild, they can handle a spore or 2.
check this dude's method. he's a pro commercial grower, and after boiling the substrate he incautiously handles it in a non-sterile environment.
