When I was poor and couldn't afford something sweet to eat I would make myself a toast with butter and put some sugar onto it. Is it what fairy bread tastes like?

It's one of the few things that's better with margarine than with butter. Maybe the only thing. It's shit either way, though.

South Africa.
Bunny chow.
You take a loaf of bread, hollow it out, fill it with curry and dig in. Extra points for saving the hollowed out crumb and dipping it in the curry sauce.
I do it with my butter chicken it's the best.

America
Bacon pizza burger. You can get this at pretty much any mom & pop diner. I usually get it with steak fries but it tastes good with normal French fries too.

If you ever are visiting America and you order one of these, make sure to ask for a few squirts of Hershey chocolate sauce under the bun—it will blow your mind

Armenian living in America, food in pic is eaten by everyone in Transcaucasia. The dumpling is khnkali, the cheese egg thing is ajarakan khachapuri, the soup is khash. I've always considered ajarski and khnkali to be more Georgian and khash to be more Armenian but maybe I'm wrong. Khash is like a porridge made from boiled pig or cow bits that becomes a very fatty soup. We dry lavash and crush it in along with garlic and lemon

These are great. You get the sweetness of the sugar mingling with the savouriness of the fat. The softness of the bread contrasting with the delightful crunchiness of the hundreds and thousands. The wonderful taste of the bread crust also really pops in this setting. And, of course, all those colours make such a visual treat that few people can resist.

Yet its a treat that anybody can afford to enjoy. One of those little pleasures that truly cuts across class and remind us of our common humanity. The dessert world's great equalizer.
