Only some places in SoCal get water from Nevada and Arizona (because what are reservoirs), NorCal gets it's water from snow melt, and some of it gets delivered to the Central Valley through flumes and canals. Also no one is growing almonds or broccoli in the desert. The almond orchards are in the Central and Sacramento valleys, which are not even close to being deserts. It's really fucking obviously you've never traveled through California. From Bakersfield up highway 99 to about Lodi, you can drive past all the almond, walnut, pistachio, cherry, peach, plum, apricot, etc orchards, and there's signs on the fences that have the company name and sometimes what's growing. There's a shit ton of Blue Diamond orchards. And, if you go over to Intersate 5, (which runs parallel to 99) you can drive past miles and miles of orange, mandarin, lemon, satusma, etc orchards. And none of that area is fucking desert. You can also see the big corporation's processing facilities, like Del Monte, Kraft, etc. Straight from the farms to you. You're welcome.

I used to get blood pudding sausages, cut them up in slices and just heat them in the microwave for a few seconds. I generally avoid using the microwave, and I don't own one (I was living in a sort of boardroom at the time) but I enjoyed the softness of it. It's much different from when it's pan-fried.

I made a pot roast a few days ago with mashed potatoes and gravy. I skimmed the fat and didn't use it for anything, just threw it away. I don't know the traditional recipe or anything but it seems to be milk, eggs, flour, water and beef fat. My mum used to put water in with the milk, then leave the batter in the fridge with an ice cube in it for about 40 minutes while the fat got hot in the oven. She also used to say that you had to used lard or dripping for the fat because it gets hotter.

I have literally never had a Yorkshire pudding as good as hers since she died, and I've never ever been able to reproduce them. Weird because in general she was a pretty mediocre cook.
