1.Tried making Jimmy John's "Kicking Ranch Sauce" at home based on a recipe "leaked" on Reddit,..

It looked like the signature sauce, but didn't taste like it. I think I added too much or too little of a certain ingredient. Either way, had to throw it all out.

2. Went shopping once and didn't pay my electric bill. Spent all the money on food. Literally the exact moment i got home, my electric company cut my power and I was left with a bunch of cold food that was going to go bad.
Was hungry, and din't want it to go to waste...
Ate an entire room temperature frozen pizza.

3. Made Almond milk from scratch.
The milk tasted chalky and had a weird chemical smell.
Made me sick and threw up a few times. Probably gave myself slight cyanide poisoning. Poured that shit down the drain asap!

I spent about an hour and a half trying to get briquettes to light once because i was drunk and didn't want to do it the proper way. half a bottle of lighter fluid and i thought i was going to through myself onto the shitty tiny fire out of sheer frustration

Surprisingly that’s the least creepy thing I’ve been asked.

...Hard maybe.

Not the most frustrating, but most disappointing was definitely Beef Wellington. Such a fucking waste of a great piece of meat. I even reconfirmed that I didn‘t screw up in a good restaurant. Bong cuisine is truly the worst.

boiled pasta and the handles on the pot detached and i got burns on my feet and left thigh.

That's disappointing. Beef wellington always looked so good to me

Well, I may have chosen the wrong words. It is tasty, but the amount of time you have to invest in it doesn‘t justify the result. A chateaubriand with some mushrooms on the side would take a fraction of that and be just as good. The dish is 95% about presentation and not flavor in my opinion.

>ask mom how to use stove top to not burn food
>spend 30 minutes being very careful to not burn grilled cheese as smell makes me hungrier and hungrier
>perfect grilled cheese
>super happy and proud
>put on plate and walk to table
>fabric of sock heal catches on edge of floor board
>stumble but dont fall
>grilled cheese on floor
>manages to find and collect every piece of dirt and debris in the kitchen

this is probably one of the events that shaped who I am today
and I find that a bit upsetting to think about

when I was first starting out I made a curry and rice but completely fucked it, it was nearly inedible. I fucked up the curry by using chickpeas instead of lentils and I fucked the rice by cooking it wrong. It would've been fine if I hadn't been cooking for another person too. Oh well, I'm better now.

>Brine a chicken in salt, water, vinegar, sugar , rosemary and a couple of hot chilis overnight.

>Add a spice rub.

>Finish roasting and looks fantastic.

>Salty af.

I guess I forgot to read that the rub had salt in in too. I mean it doesn't taste bad but the skin is like 'enjoy yr kidney failure' levels. Am I fucking it up by letting it brine overnight?

You're fucking up by using a brine which is inherently salty and a salty ass premade rub. M as ke your own herb rub with no salt.

Spend all fucking day making stock for the first time. Was letting it cool and fell asleep on the sofa. Woke up 6 or 7 hours later and ended up tossing the stock after a long mental debate. First and only time I have ever tried to make stock.
