No, it isn't. Diversity isn't important anywhere, the people who do the best at a given thing should be the ones doing it. Everyone should have the OPPORTUNITY to do thing- craft breweries shouldn't refuse to hire people because they're not white- but shoehorning people into positions specifically because they're women/black/asian/whatever is ridiculous. If you're a great brewer, you should work at a brewery. If you're not, you shouldn't. Same for literally any other position.

No one said anything about forcing diversity, but whenever you end up with a particularly homogenous group, it's worthwhile to examine further the reasons for it, because there isn't always equal opportunity in access to these things. Sometime it's completely innocuous, but other times there are more targeted forces at work keeping things segregated.
