Their food is great if you want something fast, palatable and cheap. I think they get so much hate because they're the most well known fast food place, and so have to deal with all criticisms we'd normally level against fast food, e.g. 'they're responsible for everyone being fat' 'they're the epitome of consumerism' 'their food is soulless and tastes like shit, it can't replace a homecooked meal'

whenever i attempted to eat a burger from mcdonald's i'd have to spit up the meat for either one of two reasons
1. my brain could only recognize the flavor of the patty as "rotten"
2. there was a fucking bone in it

only things tolerable at mcdonald's are the fish sandwich and breakfast menu and jack in the box does the latter far better anyhow while the former is merely bland enough to not fuck up horribly

I don't know a single establishment these days that pays just the minimum wage. The McDs close to me pays $10.50/hr and the Taco place north of me starts people out at $13/hr.

You're lucky (or mistaken), the McDonald's I worked at until about two years ago started everyone at minimum wage. I was there for two years before they finally promoted me, and before that I was only making $7.45 (a fucking 10 cent raise was your reward for getting the highest possible marks on your yearly review). As manager I only got paid $9/hr.

The quarter pounder is as "fresh" as you would find in 99% of restaurants (the exceptions being fancy places that serve food butchered locally that morning or whatever). Every other menu item you are correct though.

Big Macs have always been shit (since the late 90s/early 00s when I first started eating there anyway). I never understood how they were so popular. There is literally as much bread as meat in JUST the middle bun, which is the smallest of the three buns! The sauce is okay at best, and does not come close to making up for the lack of meat in this bread sandwich.

Meh, it's not like being a manager is an accomplishment, even within the context of working at McDonald's. If you've worked in food before, a lot of them will hire you as a manager outright. It took me so long because the owners of that store were assholes and didn't like me (non-work related reasons) and purposely dragged out the process for as long as they possibly could. You could conceivably become a manager within a couple months of starting at an average McDonald's.

The sauce is decent enough, I think that's probably its biggest differentiator. Years ago you would be able to get a mcdouble with big mac sauce on it for free, but I think they charge you now.

The mcnuggets are the only thing i still like from McDonalds. They're not great, but they're not BK's "it's so cheap that I question the motive behind selling it at that price". Plus unlike BK nuggets, mcnuggets actually taste like chicken. What part of the chicken I don't know but that was the animal the meat came form.
