No joke, firm tofu. Freeze it, thaw it, then gently squish the juice out of it over the sink. Try and get as much juice out as you can.

Then throw that block in a good marinade for a day or two. Squeeze it one more time, then chop it up into cubes and pan fry it.

It's like two bucks a block and pretty good in soups too.

That is legit cheap. If potatoes are cheap I would prefer subbing that for rice. Rice kinda sucks unless its fried, cooked into a recipe, or completely covered in some flavorful sauce. You need a little spice in your life, that looks like a "white people" meme about blandness.
