heres how i make canned beans a lot better

>fry off diced bacon or chorizo
>saute diced shallot and garlic in the fat
>add 1-2 tbsp of tomato paste and cook for a bit
>add beans
>add tsp of honey if they arent sweet enough

Bush's beans are full of tons of sugar. I like that the Heinz stuff is like 8 grams per serving max. The closest I can find that is relatively domestic is Clark's, a Canadian company, but I can't find any store here that sells them or imports them. Sucks, because they're like 80 cents a can, comparable to Heinz in the UK.

This article has a link to all the top recipes as well as the history. It's the dumbed down version of American style beans that were exported. Britain has no pork during war rationing, and less sugar, same reason.
