This happened to me once. I got a steak with some vegetables on the side. I ate all the vegetables before I took a bite of steak. I had ordered a medium-rare, but it was totally well-done. I let the waitress know, and she brought me a properly cooked steak, along with a whole new side of veggies. It was funny because I barely touched the new veggies. >>13657577
I had this experience. I ordered a medium-rare filet and it was still raw and chewy in the middle. The trick is to order "medium rare plus" according to some article I read. Apparently steakhouses slightly undercook their steaks because it's easier to throw something back on the grill than it is to cook a whole new steak. In any case, I never go to steakhouses because steak is the easiest meat to cook. I had a gift card, though.

the carrots were nice though the broccoli they provided was like bark
i don't usually buy steaks, i always cook mine (pic related) so i don't have to pay extra for some butter, garlic and rosemary to be used in cooking
like i paid $19 CAD for the sirloin in OP pic, for the one in this picture i paid $13 CAD for a Ribeye which i knew i could get it to how i like, along with knowing that the cooking would be quality (reverse seared) and flavoured.

i was out with some friends, and i didn't want to seem like that girl who doesn't get food to remain peak skinny, the rest of the menu didn't interest me so i just tried to stay safe.

There are only two ways you can get a well done steak when you asked for rare: the cook can't cook, or they royally fucked up the tickets. You probably don't want to eat at a place that does either.

I don't know why cooking a rare steak is so hard for NPC chefs, seriously unless it is a steakhouse I don't even bother ordering steak. It will always be over or underdone. I'm a fan of Brazilian steakhouses, especially AYCE. Might cost $100 a seat, but you can eat 6 pounds of rare filet mignon.
