Dr Juliane Richter, a neurobiologist at Lubeck University in Germany, says those who start the day with a massive meal like a fry-up burn two-and-half times as many calories as those who only have a smaller meal.

Eating a British breakfast boosts the metabolism by triggering a process known as diet-induced thermogenesis (DIT) – where energy is dissipated as heat after a meal A fifth of Brits under 30 have never had a full English, according to a recent poll.

But the findings add to a growing body of research that the best way to lose weight is to eat your largest meal in the morning and your smallest in the evening.

Dr Richter said: “Our results show a meal eaten for breakfast – regardless of the amount of calories it contains – creates twice as high diet-induced thermogenesis as the same meal consumed for dinner. Scientists reckon it could help end the obesity crisis and a host of related illnesses, such as diabetes.

The study also found that eating a small low-calorie breakfast boosts our sweet-tooth – meaning we are more likely to snack on sugary treats during the day.
It found the younger generation found fry-ups too greasy, while 20% associated the traditional English staple with heart attacks.

Dr Richter said: “We recommend that patients with obesity as well as healthy people eat a large breakfast rather than a large dinner to reduce body weight and prevent metabolic diseases.”

Just sounds like they're saying eating more in the morning is better if you're going to use that energy instead of eating more soon before going to sleep.

this is nonsense, if i have breakfast i'm hungry all day. if i skip it, i can do without food until late in the evening without any problems whatsoever. so much for "science" these days.

An American ate nothing but doritos and Mountain Dew and lost weight. It’s not about the food it’s about the caloric intake.

The fucking state of news media. Journalists are just fucking retards like the people reading, I don't know why anyone trusts them to interpret the results of any scientific study.

What are you eating for breakfast? A small bowl of sugary cereal won't keep you satiated for long, and I doubt you'd be hungry after eating something like in the OP's pic.
