The US hasn't banned them...I live in CA and see Four Loko in stores all the time. I never BUY it, because it's nasty as hell and I'm a grown-ass man, not a high school kid trying to get drunk on a budget, but they're there.

iirc there was some fuss about some kids- well, teens- downed a bunch of them and got various health issues and I think a death or two. Turns out putting a bunch of stimulants in alcohol isn't a good idea. Later there were laws passed that established limits on what kind of stimulants/how much could be put in drinks like your pic and sodas, energy drinks and what have you. Most of those are still for sale, they just have a different recipe now.

Honestly though it saves about as many lives as locking up tide pods does. People will continue to legislate against stupid people while never realizing stupid people will always be stupid.

Generally speaking when special interests get a bug up their ass about relatively small things they can get their way because nobody cares to directly oppose them and they'll pester politicians or even take office for their one specific thing. For instance in Texas sativa is now illegal because some retard felt the need to make a non-issue into a criminal offense and kept pushing the bill until people bent over to shut him up.
