rate beers from other countries
>Spain
most brands are pilsner / light lager, similar to latino or american beers. a few nice black beers.
>Italy
same than above
>Germany
some great brands: Paulaner, Franziskaner
>Belgian beer
a few really nice ones like Grimbergen
>USA beers
all i've tried so far is pretty much on par with Spanish beers: Budweisser, Miller and Brooklyn Lager, from best to worst, are he ones ive tried.
>Czech beers
pretty much the same than most southern european and latino beers, very light, not good but okay for hot summer days i guess
>Ireland
guiness is great, but way overpriced compared to the amazing german beers there are out there

A good German Bock is something beautiful.
When I was visiting some relatives this January we went to a local festival and did something they call Stärke Antrinken where you drink a Maß (1L) of Bock for every month of the coming year. Even with just normal beer it'd be pretty fucking tough to drink 12L over a day but with the much higher alcohol content in Bock it seems downright impossible to most normal folk, but the people I went with just kept on downing one after the next, it was unreal. I don't drink a lot so I barely managed up to August.
Keep meaning to ask them if they can send me a few bottles, it was from some local Bamberger brewery, probably the best beer I've ever had.

I drunk a few Belgian beers and they're amazing, nothing comes close, but they're not the kind of beer you'd drink often or casually. British, Irish, and German beers are great too (with the exception of IPA which is mostly fermented orange juice to me), and I find them perfect because they're easy enough to drink without giving up in quality. Czech beers are a step under, but still good. Italian beers are laughable, and good only for casual cheap drinking while having pizza at home.

Are Austrian beers overall similar to Bavarians? What sorts of beers are sold nationwide in Austria? I'd say the only beers you don't have/drink down there are the thin and very bitter coastal Pilseners like Jever and Flensburger, Berliner Weisse if you like sour beers, all the beers from western Germany like Kölsch, Alt and Export (just look what you can get as you can't even get those well in other regions of Germany), maybe Schwarzbier from eastern Germany (you should at least get Köstritzer). Very regional types would be Gose, Rauchbier or Braunschweiger Mumme.
But as i said it's hard to suggest something if you don't know the countrys favours and beer ranges in supermarkets there.

And if you can get your hands on it, try to find 100 Blumen Bier. It's a fairly new brewery that opened up recently around the corner where I grew up, and the 1020 (Wiener Lager) is one of my favourite beers ever.

And as much as I like to rail against German beer ... I gotta admit they do wheat beer better than anyone else. Paulaner especially. For something more local, try to find the Andorfer from Passau.

That's because it's owned by Unilever who bought the company, and because they also own PG Tips, they don't see any point in competing with themselves and so sold off the supermarkets it used to own and a lot of the other brands of product that Lipton used to make. Previously it used to be a huge presence in Britain. It's one of those weird zombie brand names that are used as faces by the same multinational corporations to try and trick people into thinking it's local. Like how Walls Ice Cream was also bought out by Univlever and now is the Heartband ice cream, but it's still known as Walls in the UK, or how Walkers crisps was bought in the 80s and is still Walkers despite adopting the Frito-Lays branding.
