>NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Rodent droppings, flies landing on pizza dough and roach issues were all found inside a North Miami Beach Domino’s Pizza last week. There were also hand washing issues inside the Domino’s, as well.

State records show four South Florida kitchens were ordered shut last week by the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. An inspector also observed roaches inside a Deerfield Beach Subway restaurant.

Below is a list of places that were ordered shut and some of their violations (Check the article for more). All the places mentioned were allowed to re-open following an ordered cleanup and re-inspection.

>“Rodent activity present as evidenced by rodent droppings found. Observed approximately 100+ rodent droppings found behind the pizza dough station, approximately 30+ rodent droppings in the storage room, approximately 10+ rodent droppings in the dining area.”

>“Stop Sale issued due to food not being in a wholesome, sound condition. Observed 1 fly landed on 2 pizza dough that was being made.”

>“Dead roaches on premises. Observed 2 dead roaches on the floor under the three compartment sink, and 1 dead roach under the plastic, bottles of soda rack in the back kitchen area.”

>“Employee began working with food, handling clean equipment or utensils, or touching unwrapped single-service items without first washing hands. Observed pizza delivery drivers/employees entered establishment from the back door handling boxed, cooked pizza no hand wash. Employees washed hands.”

>“Water draining onto floor surface. Observed water leaking from the ceiling in the back of the kitchen area. Observed water leaking from the ceiling by the bathroom area in the dining area.”

>“Observed Dumpster overflowing garbage.”

I'm a former health inspector, we find restaurants like this literally EVERY DAY, if your county is any good they have inspections available to the public for any food establishment in your area by a simple google search
These types of violations actually happen more to smaller places than chains like Dominos because they don't have internal inspectors

Oh no, not a fly! How could you let a fly get inside the pizza place!
Rest of it is typical. Minimum-wageys will never clean as thoroughly as they should because it's too hard, so it'll fall on the manager or owner to do this when opening or closing.
Hand-washing should be done once when assuming prep until you leave to go do something else. Drivers will touch all kinds of shit (door handles, money, car keys) so it doesn't matter if they handle the box.

if there were more mice than that there would be far more droppings and they'd have closed for sanitation already

It's becoming less so day by day. Our state is viewed as exciting, dangerous. Maybe once upon a time this was the case, but not anymore. Our edge is cooling off and transforming into something very stale, very Californian.

Our art districts got double-gentrified after north beachers bought all the properties that the artists and artisan hipsters couldn't afford to manage after the last hurricane ripped them apart, so where once there existed indie coffee shops and interesting boutiques to take a girl you wanted to enter, now only lay Rolex, Montblanc, foreign investors and [FOR LEASE - CONTACT SILVERBERG AND COHEN PROPERTY MANAGEMENT]
The Keys, one of the most exciting and beautiful places in South Florida, have been forgotten. The population depletes itself every year, with Key West and Key Largo natives sending their kids off to upstate colleges, never to return to the land that once bore them and will never bear them again.
South Beach is a condom-laden shithole where Venezuelans play reggaeton and sea shanty 2 at full volume on JBL portable speakers and french tourists send their nude children off to get scared by the countless homeless beach bums.
Kendall is a sea of endless suburbs that slowly grows, crawling across the whole of east SF like slime mold.
Homestead is an endless sea of mcmansions or guatemalan towns. This is actually a very good place to go for an ego boost, as I guarantee you will stand a full foot taller than every man in the city.

God help South Florida. I havent seen an alligator in over 3 years.

150 mouse turds can be 3 mice for a week. Not great, but far from an infestation.
Fun fact: just about every resto has bugs or mice. They live in boxes. Busy restos get 100s of boxes in a week. All they can do is have the bug guy out every couple of weeks and hope the FOH doesn't get many.

Papa's pizza comes with extra proteins. At least that's what my managers and co-workers would say as they laughed about all the bugs crawling around in the makeline lexans. If your pizza fell out of the oven hope that it landed cheese side down too. Otherwise they'd just scoop it off the floor and box it anyways.
This one was in S. FL too.

agreed though, visiting miami after growing up there just seems like it's been more and more sterilized. Downtown miami just feels like any other downtown now with the same stores and gentrified restaurants
