I've begun to get extremely hesitant whenever a label is trying too hard to sound extra exotic super amazing blablabla. Not just beer, but wine too. Sadly it's not a good practice for finding what you like.
I absolutely refuse to buy bottles they've started putting GOLD MEDAL stickers on with a name of some bumfuck town in europe having won a taste contest there. It's just too much.

I found this in a grocery store while visiting my folks. I had no idea they made an APA so I thought what the hell, I’ll try it. One and a half beers in I fell ill. Not pukey drunk ill, but flu like ill. On top of how horrible it tasted, it made me feel like total shit. I gave up, went to bed at 7:30 and let my dad drink the rest.

Had the same thing happen to me. It taught me I hate white rhum agricole but I like dark rhum agricole.

The white just tastes like sweet funky grass cuttings. The dark rhum agricoles have enough other flavors to balance out the funk. Clement's vsop is great and it makes my favorite daiquiri so far out of any rum.

I actually really liked it when I tried it at a craft beer festival a couple years ago. I think that was before it came out in stores so they could have definitely changed the recipe but I would definitely consider it if the store was out of Sierra Nevada or Founders All-Day.

That is a scam. Those "taste contests" often give out like a 1000 gold medals. It's not like you have to be the best to get a gold medal, you just have to score sometihng like 80/100.
