I managed to steal all my grandma's cooking books so I can go through them for notes- but little success so far.
She was English and lived during the war so most of what she cooked was pretty bad desu.

I never really got italian food, when I went to Italy and had "real" Italian food it was sort of a shrug moment.
It's clear that they have much better produce, while in the west it's godawful
