8% abv. Very based, I don't know how wide these guys distribute, they're a pretty small operation here in MA. They have some standard ciders and they do some rather unique ones like that. They started doing an Earl Gray tea one last year that was surprisingly based. Their hopped cider is absolutely kino

this cider's the bees tits

it's made following a 250yr old recipe and uses maple searp for the added sugar. it doesn't taste like maple and it doesn't taste like apples. it's like almost boozy and earthy, and it's very dry. I've seen batches between 6.5% and 8%. i'm not sure if they're still making it at the moment but it was their first commercially sold cider and dang was it an experience

Yeah. I'd say it's pretty fucked that Konsumentverket doesn't have any regulations regarding naming a product a "cider/perry" and having a regulated amount of fermented fruit product.

>> No.14597935

>>14597690
Hmm, that's weird and you're sure it's not like a single occurence where you got shitfaced or ate something strange?

Not gonna say it's impossible as I as well take it easy on the cider as they can have weird consequenses but not as bad as red wine of which I won't touch again no matter what but I don't see the connection to Grolsch which is pretty damn good and I have never noticed anything like that nor heard anyone mention it, I mean cider sure but Grolsch O.o

>> No.14597947

>>14597932
I actually thought there where some kind of regulations, sure when it comes to non-alcoholic cider yeah those are mostly aroma and sugar but I always there was some kind of actual ciderbase that then got mixed with a whole bunch of nonsense, I mean why would you even mentioned that it's pearcider with added peachflavor as with Klassiker O.o

My go to from the bottle shop is Mercury Draught, but I went to a local brewery recently for dinner and it was fucking amazing. They had a huge variety and I left with 2 cases.
Picture related, they have an apple and cherry cider and I can't get enough of it.
Local > mass produced every time.

>> No.14599985

>>14594023
It's hard to get good cider in many areas.
A. the companies that make them are making them as part of their beer range, instead of making the best cider they are trying to split the market
B. tax differences lead cider makers to fool around with the alcohol content- again instead of making the best product it's optimized for price.
A notable result of mixing is that instead of making cider in one batch they have to mix t like whiskey to get the ABV right.

End result, Cider is often sickly sweet and awful.
There is no good reason cider should be cloudy, this is 2020 and you can just flock it before bottling- if it's brewed in the bottle fair enough.

I come from apple country and we have the best cider in the country, it's just too expensive to mass produce because of licensing and tax and transport (though everyone will tell you the same story in every town)
