Dont get hot chicken, its a meme. If you do, get hattie B’s and get the tenders, beans, and potato salad. Slaw is shit. Get banana pudding. Actually, its not a meme, but there is a very good thai restaurant called smiling elephant right across from the hattie b’s on 8th ave. Theres a super cool vintage guitar store up the street called carter vintage if youre into that sort of thing.

Dinos in east nashville is my favorite dive bar food. Greasy, REALLY good, fun and maximum comfy. Mothers ruin in germantown is a great cocktail bar with good but expensive food, bartenders are a hoot, lots of hot chicks hang out there.

Redheaded stranger in east nash has a great burger and they make the flour tortillas in house, highly recommended for hangover food.

Fine dining? Henrietta red for a standard shared plate faire, bastion for tasting menu style stuff in a super non pretentious setting (i personally know the entire staff at henrietta and theyre great, good program, super clean, and ive staged at bastion, josh is a very good chef). Catbird seat might be open and youre gonna spend a lot of money but its quite worth it IMO.

Cobra in east nashville and beer sellar downtown are my go-to dive bars to shoot pool. Midtown is great for babes, losers/winners are never a bad move. I personally avoid broadway but you should walk up and down it once just to take in the craziness and then walk up 2nd to printers alley for karaoke (nashville karaoke is generally very good because so many failed musicians) and theres a fish and chips spot that is also quite good.

I tried desano pizza last friday.. Website looked nice, reviews were good, menu looked good. Got a small diavola ‘za and a caprese. Cant be too hard to fuck up, right? And it was $40 fucking dollars WITH picking it up myself.

It was cold, soggy, greasy, unbearably salty, and not only did the calabrian chilis still have stems, there was literally a handful of JUST the stems sprinkled over the pizza. The tomato salad was awful, underseasoned, mealy and gross tomatoes. It was so bad i felt compelled to call and tell them how BAD it was and how disappointing it is to pay top price when i couldve gotten three dominos pies for the same money and enjoyed it much more. told them id never be back and id actively tell anybody who will listen to avoid their shitty, ridiculously priced food. I wasnt even looking for a handout, just wanted to give somebody an earful on the off chance somebody actually cares about making people happy.

I lived in Nashville for about three years not too long ago.

Go to Prince's for hot chicken, NOT Hattie B's. Prince's is a bit out of the way, but it's the original and the seasoning is delicious and complex--leagues beyond any imitators. As for the heat level, I have a pretty high tolerance for heat and I tend to stick to medium at Prince's. The hot is properly HOT, and anything beyond that is basically torture.

You're gonna want to hit up some honky tonks on Broadway, and when you do, go to Robert's Western world for their fried bologna sandwich, which is absolutely perfect drunk food.

My single favorite restaurant in Nashville is Arnold's Country Kitchen. It's cafeteria style lunch, only open on weekdays. They have rotating entrees, which you can see here: https://www.arnoldscountrykitchen.com/menu-hours
Their liver and onions with sides of turnip greens, mashed potatoes, green beans and fresh tomato salad would be my death row meal. It's objectively a ton of food, but I always feel like I'm walking on air when I leave.
