As a Canadian who works in construction, something you'll notice is that while engineers work exclusively in millimetres, they're almost always still using the same old standard inch measurements. You'll see shit like a "610mm square duct" instead of a 2 foot square duct, or the fucking goofy designations like "trade size 41 conduit" which is nominally recognized as being a 1-1/2 inches diametre.

Most codes and regulations use millimetre equivalents for common standard values when they went metric. All references of 6 inches and 12 inches typically got replaced with 150mm and 300mm respectively without concern to accuracy.
