I feel like most of the posters in these threads are American and as a Europoor I can't get most of the brands you talk about. The only fancy ones I can get are Nuri and they are really tasty but they kinda strain my budget as a broke student at 3€ a can, though I can rarely get them on sale down to 2€ like last week.
Any Europoors got recommendations? The 1.50€ cans with tomato sauce from ALDI are honestly pretty decent for a budget option, but Nuri are still the best I've tried.
I mainly use the fancy ones in tomato sauce by themselves with bread or crackers and the fancy ones in olive oil over rice or plain pasta. The dirt cheap ones get used for fisherman's eggs or in pasta sauces like this >>15088370 .
Anybody here tried something like a dip or fish cakes with deenz? Also any ideas for using the nicer ones other than straight out the tin or on toast? I feel bad cooking with the more expensive ones and tend to use the cheap ones for that. I guess they could be nice as a salad topping.

To the anon who said picrelated was nasty, well, you can't just open the can and start eating.
You need to prepare it.
The way I did it, was drain the oil in a pan, finely slice a good amount of leek (I used winter leek, it's more tender and you can eat the green bits as well) and fry it up in the oil, add the juice of one small-medium lemon (yes, into the pan, takes the edge of the tartness), season with pepper (no need for salt, liver is salted) and pour it over the liver in a bowl. Mash up the liver and mix it with the fried leek, spread on thick dark bread (possibly toasted).

Its up to taste. Sometimes the crunch can be disconcerting if you're not expecting it I guess. when I first tried sardines they were trader joes, which can them a bit bigger than King Oscar and some other brands, and I wasn't expecting the vertebrae to be crunchy. but they're perfectly edible bone-in.

Haven't eaten them yet. I've been hung over the last two days and I don't want to throw up seafood, especially not semi-expensive shit. I'll try them for lunch in around an hour from now.

Trying them now. They're ok. Not nearly chewy enough for me. I like mussels when they're as chewy as a rubber band. Pack in broth and herbs are pretty tasty, mussels are a bit more fishy than I would like. Not worth the price though desu.

I remember eating cheap canned sardines in mustard as a kid and thought eating the bones was hilarious. When I revisited them as an adult I found them vile. Reading these threads I found out the cheap ass beachcliff deenz were the problem. I bought some king oscar and have kept a few cans at home at all times.

/deenz/ bros, I picked up a couple of jars of these higher quality tuna fillets. I usually just get the cheaper canned stuff for making tuna salad, but these seem too nice/firm for basic tuna salad duty.

What should I make with them?
