Typically I would do prime rib, baked potatoes, caprese salad, bruschetta (homemade bread), Russian cream, and dark chocolate covered oranges. This year senpai got gifted a turkey so I’m thinking brine it in cider overnight, then 50/50 mashed sweet/golden potatoes, Mac and cheese, homemade cranberry sauce, green beans

Thanks. I was going for a feast primarily of meats and vegetables without too much grain filler, wanted it to feel luxurious. A little Russian influence since I've been studying Russian cuisine lately.
Every year my SO and I watch all the extended LOTR movies over Christmas Eve/Day and day drink, and this year I was feeling extra fucking hype for it after a shitty year of job loss and big bother so I wanted it to be extra special. We will feast, not quite like hobbits, but at least a bit like them.

you can come eat with us if you promise not to go on any tirades about (((the tribe))) or trannies. racism generally flies, but keep it pg-13.

it really is that bad. watch jurassic park from 1994 or whenever, still looks great. watch LOTR trilogy, it's hilariously bad. it looked good when it came out and it was in theaters but they way overdid it.

your meal will be better than the movies but i'm not knocking your tradition, it sounds comfy as fuck

I really don't see how you can say Jurassic Park held up better than LOTR. The only thing I can think of is the one meme scene with Legolas on a troll but one scene does not a masterpiece ruin.

Anyway, thanks.

it's because JP didn't rely on CGI, it used CGI tastefully instead of going full on michael bay. animatronics and sets/models and camera trickery with CGI to fill in the gaps is obviously the way to do it.

Macaroni and cheese, baked beans, broccoli salad, and pickles and onions for the sides, I got really quality pickles.
Just going to be my father and his parents along with some of my siblings this year. I offered to cook because I know that my Nana is very tired, she is dealing with a lot and I want to cook for them. Nana is making potato salad and a few desserts. Going to get my girlfriend to make a loaf of white bread. I will also have beers and bourbon punch.

Keeping it simple this year, because this year it's only my parents, brother, gf and i.
Snirtjebraten is a roast from northern Germany made from small pork chunks heaviely seasoned with pimento, juniper, cloves, bay leaves and the obvious salt and pepper. After roasting the meat, you also roast lots of onions, deglace it with beer and let it cook for some time. It's served with potatoes, red cabbage and the thickened gravy, but mustard goes also pretty well with it.
