That's why they're mandating that all the rich assholes in our area attach themselves to the city sewage while ALSO installing a septic system with grinder pump for $15,000. That way, even if you dump truckloads of nasty shit down the drain it's still your problem to solve.

Between that, the useless recycling program (which dumps my recycling in the trash truck half the time anyway), and having to pay to hook up to city water (even if I want to keep my superior well water), I have absolutely no faith that state/government environmental initiatives are designed to do anything besides extract more money from the people

The fat and soap will seperate in the pipes. I really thought the whole “don’t pour grease down the drain” was a boomer meme but a year into owning my own house and ignoring the rule I had a major blockage in my kitchen sink. I had to disassemble the drain pipe and feed a rotary pipe snake down the drain for about four hour before I finally found the blockage and cleared it. Now I just put some paper towels in the pan to soak up the grease and when it’s cool I just throw it in the trash can. Haven’t had a problem since.
