Either way even our boyscouts had the asbit ones, which is a much better solution as you only need to rebuy the burning elements instead of buying whole chemical heater bags which also only work in addition with water as well as a water repelant bag, so it's useless for at home emergencies as in OPs claim. On the esbit you can even fry a Bratwurst and all that without having to heat u plastic bags with food inside.

Asian stores almost always have cheap ass Chinese burners like this (though pic is not cheap and not Chinese), and sell 4-packs of the fuel cartridges for cheap as shit too.
