I buy wholesale beef from local farmers, their personal cows. And this is only for now. In not too long I'm going to have my own cows, and I'm a fan of doing all the hard work.

Hunting is okay, and I do plan to hunt on my deer infested property someday, but livestock has it's advantages. For one thing, when hunting you face the very real possibility of missing your target and chase the poor thing for hours, shit, I've even heard days before you finally find and dispatch the miserable creature finally immobilized by their wounds. And by that point the meat is ruined. The great thing about livestock is that they get a quick death. Industrial agriculture of any kind is disgusting, which is why I raise and slaughter my own livestock and grow my own crops.

I don't wish suffering on any living being. A quick, near instant kill is not the same as causing suffering. You saying anyone deserves to suffer because they believe differently than you says a lot about your character and you should probably look into that.

very based, my only problem is with industrial fags. as for hunting causing undue suffering if you fuck up, that can be true, but the thing is that from a consequentialist perspective a wild animal is fucked anyway. if it dies in nature, it will either be eaten alive via predation OR disease or it will just die of old age, but the problem is "old age" for a wild animal is a gruesome affair given they have no medical treatment or... society, so they just lay there and suffer anyway. pretty much the best they can hope for is actually a human hunter's mercy.

i would like to live in a civilization where people are more self-sufficient (and therefore consoom less overall, including animal products) and are either homesteaders or buy from local ones if they can't afford to be (because most can't) but unfortunately such a RETVRN isn't very likely.

Probably not. But idk. 100 years ago homesteading was more more normal. So if this much has changed in 100 years, maybe 100 years from now it will change again. Something like only 1 percent of the united states is farming, with the average age being 65. I have a hope that maybe in my lifetime I can see maybe 4 percent of young Americans become disgusted with modern hyperconsumerist lifestyles and return to land stewardship. The competition of quality alone would pressure large agribusinesses to shape up or ship out.

The main reason high quality food is so expensive has to do with rapid urban population growth. Where I live the population has dropped by 1/3rd in the last 30 years. But of course cities are more popular than ever.

I hate cities, but I know they have their use. I would just like more people to realize their only options for a happy and fulfilling life doesn't mean living in a city or suburb. The countryside is gorgeous and honestly with the decline of mental health could be very beneficial to society.
