If you have the time and patience, a nice fully loaded weber charcoal.

many people here suggest weber, i recommend checking out PK grills. I have a pk 360 and it is quite nice, getting all the ash out of it tends to be annoying, but i tend to find the webers warp over time and the lid ends up not seating right

Broil King. I got a Weber and hated the layout.

Charcoal is a difficult to cook with, a pain in the ass and a mess to clean up, propane is the only way to go but make sure you get a bag of lava rocks to evenly distribute the heat. Also, those stainless steel BBQs that are popular nowadays are expensive and flimsy as shit.

Get a cheap pellet grill that has an open flame grilling option. Pit Boss is a decent choice

Buy a nice one used on craigslist. If you have the money for a new grill then you’d be able to afford a used charcoal and a gas one and still have money left over for new grates, if they need it.

Why would someone pay for propane grills? You might as well just cook on a cast iron grill pan inside. The whole point of grilling is to get that wood flavor. Charcoal all the way. I used to think charcoal was a PITA until I discovered a chimney starter and wax cubes.

Trying that with my grill and realizing the heat wouldn't be the same made me get a blackstone. Results would be different though depending on the BTUs of the burner and the distance from flame to grate, so I'm sure there are better grills out there where this makes sense.

Oh also having a grease drip spot and drip cup is probably much cleaner than trying to manage the grease on a grill and clean off your griddle plates.

>>15759635
I've got both, but my grill is shittier than yours and my blackstone is the 4 burner one. I use the griddle a lot more now. Heck I prefer my steaks in it, the grill is basically just for chicken now.

After a year I agree with the other anon that pellet smokers make shitty grills. You can sear with it, and grill with it, but with limitations. Same with using it as a wood fired oven, yes you can bake pizzas and shit, not optimally.
This, and the fact it's not worth firing up for a couple burgers or chops, is why I got a griddle.
Not pictured is my ghetto rigged Brinkman charcoal smoker that I still break out for chicken and fish, or the fire pit I use to really get down.

You should start with a cheap kettle style charcoal grill, and a chimney start. Avoid matchlight unless using steel public grills, or small personal, tailgate grills.
Buy a good, well built charcoal grill. Keep it clean and covered, preferably indoors.
After awhile buy a cheap propane grill. Treat it the same, and when it wears out you can take the final red pill and realize hank hill is full of shit.
Or buy a nice propane set up,>>15754447
If you get good enough.
