I find the appeal is Rhett tries to come across as cool and aloof but obviously cares immensely, while Link comes across as goofy and childish but is 100% the one carrying the show because he's more charismatic than Rhett.
It's also kinda obvious looking at their pictures from back when they were engineers instead of entertainers, that Rhett was the weird one.
